What insurance comes with Lloyds Platinum?
Last checked against Lloyds Bank's policy documents on 21 October 2026
Lloyds Platinum (£22.50 a month) includes worldwide family travel insurance from Allianz Assistance, mobile phone insurance from Assurant and AA Breakdown Family Cover. Club Lloyds Platinum has the same insurance, plus the £5 monthly Club Lloyds fee, which is refunded in any month you pay in £2,000 or more.
Travel cover is for trips of up to 31 days, including winter sports, until the account holder turns 80. The AA breakdown cover is UK only, so if you drive in Europe you need separate European breakdown cover.
What Lloyds Platinum covers
| Cover | Who is covered | Key limits |

Where people get caught out
- Register your phone now. It must be registered with its IMEI number (dial *#06# to find it) through the app, online banking or Membership Services. Do it before anything happens, not after it's stolen.
- Every phone claim costs £100, and replacements are refurbished or remanufactured, not new.
- Pre-existing medical conditions are only covered if they are on the "no screen" list, or you declare them and Allianz accepts them. You need to declare when you open the account, every year, and before booking if anything changes. An extra premium may apply.
- Trips longer than 31 days need a paid extension (45 to 279 days) before you go.
- Expensive holidays. Cancellation is capped at £5,000. If your trip costs more, check whether that is enough.
- Driving in Europe. The AA cover only works in the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.
- Switching account. All the insurance stops as soon as you close or downgrade the account, unless you move to another account that includes it.
Could you be paying twice?
If you have Lloyds Platinum, check whether you also pay for any of these.
- Phone insurance from your network or a retailer, for a phone already registered on your account.
- A separate annual travel policy for anyone the account already covers.
- Separate UK breakdown cover, or a breakdown add-on on your car insurance. You may still need European cover if you drive abroad.
Compare limits and excesses before cancelling anything: a separate policy may give you more cover than Lloyds Platinum does.
