Revolut Metal and Ultra travel insurance: what is covered?
Last checked against Revolut's policy documents on 27 October 2026
Revolut Metal (£16.99 a month) and Ultra (£60 a month) include travel insurance from Chubb, with emergency medical cover up to £10 million, winter sports and personal liability. Premium (£8.99 a month) and the cheaper plans don't include travel insurance.
The main difference is trip length: Metal covers the first 30 days of a trip and Ultra the first 90 days. Everyone covered must be under 76 when the trip starts.
To be covered, you must pay for at least 75% of your main transport and accommodation with your Revolut account.

Where people get caught out
- The 75% rule. You must pay for at least 75% of your main transport and accommodation with your Revolut account, and the account must be active before the trip starts. Book on another card and you may not be covered.
- Long trips. Cover stops after day 30 on Metal and day 90 on Ultra. Anything that happens after that isn't covered.
- Pre-existing medical conditions. The Metal policy doesn't cover conditions diagnosed, treated or needing hospital care in the 12 months before booking, or any heart condition or cancer diagnosed at any time.
- Premium isn't covered. Revolut's plan comparison shows no travel, medical or winter sports insurance on Premium, Plus or Standard.
- UK trips on Metal only count if you are at least 75 miles from home and stay overnight.
- Airline cancellations aren't covered under the delay section.
Could you be paying twice?
If you have Metal or Ultra, check whether you also pay for any of these.
- A separate annual travel policy for trips that Metal or Ultra already cover. You may still want one for longer trips or for medical conditions Revolut doesn't cover.
- Car hire excess insurance, when Metal and Ultra include up to £2,000 a year.
- Ski insurance sold with a holiday package.
Compare limits and excesses before cancelling anything: a separate policy may cover longer trips or medical conditions that Revolut excludes.
